The Plant to Stop Poverty (PSP) initiative is Forest Focus’s flagship mission to bridge the gap between environmental conservation and economic resilience. By 2035, we are committed to planting 70 million trees across Tanzania’s most vital ecosystems.

From the mist-covered peaks of the Eastern Arc Mountains to the vital shorelines of the Northeast Coast, we are restoring what has been lost and securing what remains for future generations.

The Mission

Our strategy is dual-layered: Restore and Provide.

  • Biodiversity Restoration: We prioritize indigenous species to reclaim invaded riverbanks along the Pangani and Zigi Rivers, protecting the watersheds that provide water to millions.
  • Agroforestry & Livelihoods: By distributing fast-growing, multi-purpose trees to local farmers, we create a “buffer zone” of sustainable resources. This reduces the community’s need to enter protected forest reserves for fuel and timber.

Our Impact to Date

We don’t just plant seeds; we grow opportunities. Our progress reflects the strength of our community partnerships.

Why It Matters

“Conservation is not just about trees; it’s about the people who live beneath them. When we protect the Zigi River, we protect the water source for Tanga City. When we empower a woman with agroforestry, we protect a forest reserve from illegal logging.”
